A Message from the Banner Baron…
The name of my favorite server at my favorite restaurant is Beth. The reason that this is my favorite restaurant is partly because my favorite server works there. Naturally, the food is very good but what I REALLY remember about my dining experiences is how Beth treats me and my guests. She always makes me feel like royalty (insert your own Baron joke here) and extends that same courtesy to my guests. Where Beth REALLY excels is at suggesting things that I may want to try or add to my meal. In restaurant jargon, this is called “upselling” and “cross-selling.” If you’ve visited a fast food restaurant, especially their drive thru, then you’ve probably heard their staffers suggest something to go with your meal or try to get you to buy a larger size of something for just a few cents more. I’m betting that they did a poor job of convincing you. Beth is the master of upselling and cross-selling because she does it with finesse, without being pushy, and because her suggestions REALLY make sense. Plus, she’s always right. OK, maybe not that time with the octopus, but EVERY OTHER time she has been right.
So here’s my best impersonation of Beth, if she worked at eSigns.com. “If you haven’t ordered anything from eSigns.com or haven’t ordered in a while, take a look at this week’s specials and allow us to suggest something for you.
