A MESSAGE FROM THE BANNER BARON
When I tell people who are not from Texas, that I’m from Texas, they ask me the strangest things.
Do you wear a hat and boots? Do you own a horse? Are there cows strolling down the highway?
Inquiring minds want to know. And here are the answers.
I do wear a hat and boots on occasion. Mostly during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, my favorite time of the year. I do not currently own a horse, but I have in the past. They are handsome, noble beasts but they eat, well, like horses and they are quite unwilling to clean up after themselves, if you catch my drift.
Now, about those cows. Normally, cows are kept in herds on ranches and in fields and pastures. Except for this past Sunday, when dozens of cowboys came to the rescue of some Lone Star bovines who had been stranded by the floods. Have a look. The cows are fine, the cowboys did their jobs, and the flood waters are receding.
Thanks to all of you who called and emailed to make sure our Houston crew and offices were safe. Thankfully, we are all good here, and it’s back to business as usual.
