NOTES ON BOSS’S DAY FROM THE BANNER BARON
So, tomorrow is Boss’s Day. I’m not sure exactly what that means, but, you know, any excuse for a party, especially when it makes me the center of attention. Robert Frost said, “By working faithfully eight hours a day you may eventually get to be boss and work twelve hours a day.” and I think that pretty much sums it up. Being the boss is a big responsibility but it brings big rewards as well. Tomorrow, those rewards are likely to include a deluge of imprinted office “novelties” with the inscription, “World’s Greatest Boss’. Maybe they’ll take me out for lunch. But I’m not expecting too much. ‘Cause this is a hard working bunch and there’s little time for such frivolity. But would it be too much to ask for a standing ovation when I walk in the room? Just once? Or, perhaps everyone could simply salute when I walk by. It’s not like I’m asking for a trumpet blast or anything. And it’s only one day a year. Anyway, I think the best thing any employee can do for his or her boss is show them how to save or make money. So, my advice is tell them about eSigns and how much money we save our customers. That’s better than a coffee mug, any day.
Now, trumpets? That would be really special.
