5 Inspiring Motivational Banners for Schools

Banner Header

Inspiring banners can show your students a bit about who you are as well as being constant reminders for them to be their best selves. The last thing you want is for them to just be wall-filler. With that in mind, here are the five top categories of motivational banners for schools.

Same Message, New Look

Some motivational signs have been around for generations, and there’s a good reason for it.

Simple statements like “Never, never, never give up” and “Hang in there!” are timeless, but do they have to be presented the exact same way? Even if you’re a die-hard kitten lover, you might want to think about giving some of these classics an updated look.

Instead of a kitten on a rope, why not a monkey or a sloth? Many video game and cartoon characters would work here as well, and that’s just one example.

Invite Questions

Another popular theme is to print quotes on banners from famous people. Instead of using people that your students are sure to be familiar with, why not use historical figures that you’ll be covering in your lessons throughout the year?

Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein are fine, but what about quoting an American innovator like Henry Ford? “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t - you’re right.” or famed poet and activist Maya Angelou? “Nothing will work unless you do.”

By having these quotes on your wall, you’re inviting students to ask you who these people are. They’re more likely to remember the lesson if they asked to be taught it.

Tune in to Modern Inspiration

One of the best places to find inspirational quotes for your school banners is the radio. You’ve got everything from the classics...

“All you need is love.”, “Won’t you help to sing these songs of freedom?”, to more modern motivational lyrics. “You can turn off the sun, but I’m still going to shine.”, “You have every right to a beautiful life.” Next time you’re listening to some tunes, keep an ear open for inspiration.

Stories of Success

You can make a great series of vinyl posters with just a few pictures. Look up some famous successes and find out what kind of obstacles and negativity they had to overcome. Type that beneath their picture followed by a brief story of their triumph, if you think it’s necessary. Here are a few to get you started:

His boss once told him he had no imagination and no good ideas. Walt Disney, She was fired from her job as a news anchor because she “wasn’t fit for television.” Oprah Winfrey, His music teacher said that “as a composer he (was) hopeless.” Ludwig van Beethoven

This is a great way to remind your students that everyone struggles while also inspiring them to be their best.

Speak from the Heart

Do you have something you’ve always hoped your students would learn from you? Maybe some bit of wisdom that you’ve come to understand over the years or some advice you wish you had when you were their age? It’s time to join those historical figures and brilliant songwriters. Put your own quote on the wall right next to theirs.

You took this job so you could make a difference. When your students leave your class, it should be your words of wisdom that go with them.
